  • Covered stories related to national security and veterans affairs across multiple platforms as part of client-based news service. Stories ran with the Daily Caller, McClatchy news wires, UPI wires and the Military Times family of publications

Education reporter; Chicago (April 2011 – June 2011)

  • Produced written and multimedia content – including videos, photos and infographics – for education-related stories on deadline for a daily news wire service operated by Medill graduate students. The service provided content for outlets around Illinois and Indiana

Editor-in-chief (May 2008 – May 2010)

  • Organized and oversaw all operations of a newspaper with a readership of more than 3,000
  • Managed and conducted hiring and training of staff
  • Designed pages, shot photos, made original artwork and wrote stories on deadline
  • Worked with publisher at finding the resources to expand staff from 19 to 27, upgrade equipment and bolster the online product’s potential by adding specialized staff and increasing the paper’s social media presence

  • Covered the women’s sports beat, especially the perennially competitive women’s soccer program
